Louise Harrison – Mezzo-Soprano
How long have you been teaching/playing professionally?
I started learning piano age 7, started singing lessons age 12. Was always singing as a child. My first paid performance was singing at a friends wedding age 18. My first stage show was at age 18 where I was Cinderella. Began working in Bunratty Castle age 19.
Whats your music education/qualification?
BA Music and English, MA Ethnomusicology, Associate Trinity College London (ATCL), and Licentiate Trinity College London (LTCL)
Any other non music related education/qualification?
MA Journalism, dip Copywriting, TEFL, Art level 5 cert
What do you love about teaching?
Most of all I love helping someone find their own unique voice, grow in confidence and ability and reach their full potential.
Who is your inspiration?
I am inspired by people who strive to make their dreams come true, whatever their circumstances, and who aim to make the world a better place.
Other hobbies/interests?
I studied art in school and won many competitions. Prior to COVID I completed a year long art course in Ennistymon School of Art. I then painted my way through Lock-downs. I love art, especially oil painting. I find it so relaxing that hours pass and I wouldn’t notice. I also love writing poetry, short stories and articles for newspapers and magazines.
Biography
Louise studied with Jean Holmes and Dr Veronica Dunne. She graduated with distinction in vocal performance from Trinity College London (A.T.C.L and L.T.C.L), has a Masters in Ethnomusicology and a BA in Music and English. While studying, Louise worked as a Bunratty Castle Entertainer, set up her own wedding business as a ceremony soloist throughout Ireland, recorded and toured the USA, Europe, the UK and Ireland with Anúna.
Since then, she received a MA in Journalism, and studied art for a year, she now combines vocal coaching with painting and writing.
