Jenny Akagha is a Nigerian-Irish Limerick-based R&B vocalist, songwriter, and honors graduate of the BA in Voice & Dance (2020), and MA in Songwriting (2021) from the Irish World Academy, University of Limerick. Jenny has spent the last seven years specializing in contemporary Pop and R&B vocal technique, and the last two years honing her songwriting craft under the tutelage of esteemed performer and songwriter Carl Corcoran.
In 2021, Jenny completed a nine-song album project entitled ‘In My Place’ where she wrote, recorded, and produced nine original songs and wrote a thesis exploring her process and inspirations.
Over the years Jenny has performed in many vocal ensemble groups and choirs, including the Irish World Academy choir, Academy Gospel choir, and various smaller group performance projects throughout her studies.
Jenny is currently a member of the Limerick Gospel Choir and performs regularly at charity and corporate events. Most recently performing to raise funds for the North Star project supporting families affected by addiction.
Jenny also has a passion for theatre and has performed in several plays as part of Limerick Youth Theatre prior to beginning third-level education. Productions she took part in include George Orwell’s ‘Animal Farm’, adapted by Bottom Dog Theatre Company (2016) LYT’s ‘Creative Show’ in collaboration with the daughters of charity and ‘The Gaff’s production of Field of Dreams. A play recounting the Tales of the Queens of the Island Field’.
In 2023 Jenny completed the B.A.S.T singing teacher training course guided by Linn Hilton to expand her knowledge of voice physiology and the mechanics of human sound production.
